List of Participating Schools
There are currently 139 participating Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program schools, located around Australia. They are classified under different funding arrangements, as follows:
- 3 Foundation schools
Foundation schools established their Programs in 2001, and are supported by the Foundation in partnership with the Victorian Department of Education & Early Childhood Development and philanthropic trusts and individuals. They currently consist of Collingwood College, Whitehorse Primary School (formerly Nunawading Primary School) and Yarrunga Primary School, who have been delivering the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program to students since 2007.
'Go for your life' schools receive part-funding through the Victorian Government's 'Go for your life' health strategy. In Phase 1 of this strategy, 25 Victorian schools began implementing the Program in 2007. In Phase 2, 22 new 'Go for life' schools began implementing the Program in 2009.
National Program schools are granted funds from the National Government to implement the Program. The National Program Round 1 commenced in 2009, with 41 schools across Australia. To support these schools, six Demonstration Schools were also founded across Australian states and territories. 2010 sees the addition of 47 schools to the Kitchen Garden Program community, through Round 2 of the National Program.
