Dawson Public School was established in 1972. The school places special emphasis on literacy and numeracy and provides many opportunities for students to participate in sport, creative and performing arts and leadership. The school is committed to providing a happy environment where everyone has the opportunity to achieve his or her personal best. Dawson PS is welcoming and friendly and values community involvement and participation. The school's mission statement was prepared in 1990 by the school community. We at Dawson Public School are committed to providing the highest quality education within a stimulating and stable environment so that we meet the needs of all students and the aspirations of the community. In 2011-2014 Dawson PS will be supported through the National Partnerships on Low SES School Communities program.
