Tools for Teachers

Over the past ten years, the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation has been working with teachers, children and education departments to develop an extensive range of curriculum learning opportunities available from food and life education.

In the kitchen garden community spirit of sharing, we are making our first Kitchen Garden Program curriculum resource, Tools for Teachers 1, available to all schools. This valuable resource was published in limited numbers by the Foundation in 2010. Its aim is to improve student engagement, participation and learning outcomes, through enticing lessons and activities that feature the kitchen and garden in the school curriculum.

Peter Garrett, Federal Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, has commended Tools for Teachers as a valuable resource in supporting and extending learning. Read his letter of commendation here.

The Tools for Teachers series

Schools who received the first Tools for Teachers in 2010 kept telling us how much they liked it - so we wrote more. Four titles in the series are now available to purchase through our online shop and are packed with lessons, activities and units matched to learning outcomes in the Australian Curriculum.
