Our Partners: ANZ

The Foundation is delighted to announce a new partnership with ANZ, whose staff will soon be volunteering their time and energy in Kitchen Garden schools around the country.

Established in 2001, ANZ's staff volunteer program makes at least one day's paid leave per year available to every staff member to participate in community volunteering.

Schools rely heavily on volunteers to establish and sustain the Kitchen Garden Program. Volunteers are typically drawn from the schools’ own communities – parents, grandparents, neighbours, local businesses and service clubs. ANZ staff will provide a much-needed additional source of support to schools as they volunteer in weekly kitchen and garden classes and in one-off projects such as working bees.

As a new initiative, the Foundation contacted schools to register their interest in accessing ANZ staff volunteers and has already received a strong response. ANZ will advertise each opportunity internally and will aim to fulfil as many as possible. Typically, volunteers work alongside small groups of students in both the kitchen and garden and facilitate hands-on learning for every child. Activities are varied and may include anything from planting seedlings and creating garden beds to making fresh pasta and delicious salads.

Volunteering offers a thoroughly rewarding experience and we welcome ANZ staff to our schools where they too can participate in the joy of growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing fresh, delicious food.
