Celebrating Elizabeth Downs' launch
Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program Launch
By Blake Hatchard, Year 6 student, Elizabeth Downs Primary School
On Thursday 3 December, Elizabeth Downs Primary School had our official launch day of being the South Australian Demonstration School for the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden National Program.
We had special guests arrive, they were Stephanie Alexander and Maggie Beer, they came to unveil our plaque to commemorate the day.
Our school choir sang for us, they sang 'We're all in this together'. They sung as beautifully as a butterfly. Mr Dunstan, our Principal, gave a speech about how our garden started and its journey until now.
Stephanie also gave a speech about how the Program runs.
Maggie also spoke to us about how she visited us previously and was amazed at how much work we had achieved and how beautiful the garden was, she was amazed how we stuck together and worked as a team.
Blake Hatchard and Kirra Bristow ran the afternoon, they are students at the school and they were our MCs for the afternoon.
Kate our Kitchen Specialist prepared our nice food for the guests. Jeannine our Garden Specialist helped talk to people about the different parts of our garden.
Kate did a delicous job. Jeannine did an excellent job, so did Mr Dunstan and the MCs and Stephanie and Maggie were all great.
The garden stories that were told were funny and fabulous.
I would love to invite people out to the school to have a look at our wonderful garden and kitchen and our plaque.
Our Garden Specialist who I have told you about is leaving us at the end of 2009 to move up to the country to teach and our new teacher will be Sue.
