The Kitchen Garden Foundation team kept busy giving the sidelines of Collingwood College’s oval an overhaul on Monday 29 March, in preparation for the new Kitchen Garden Learning Centre. Pens were downed and gloves were donned to create 17 new no-dig apple-crate and straw-bale gardens along the southern side of the school grounds. This blitz was made possible by the incredible support of the Little Veggie Patch Company, who provided the beautiful recycled beds and all-important muscle on the day. A generous donation of Oasis seedlings and other materials was made by horticulturalist and author Meredith Kirton, who emptied her Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show stall to provide a bounty of mature herb and vegetable seedlings. The new garden will be part of a hands-on training facility for school staff and Kitchen Garden Specialists, as well as supplementing the Kitchen Garden Program at Collingwood College and providing fresh, seasonal food for many hungry tummies. Stay tuned to hear more about our exciting new Learning Centre as it progresses! Read more about our supporters: Little Veggie Patch Co. Meredith Kirton Grow Harvest Cook Oasis Horticulture
