Alawa Primary latest to launch
Our Northern Territory Demonstration School, Alawa Primary in Darwin, is the latest school to officially begin implementing the Kitchen Garden Program.
The launch was a great success, with Stephanie enjoying a kitchen class with Year 4 students and a morning tea of wattleseed damper and billy tea in the garden as guests arrived.
The One Mob Different Country dance group began the proceedings with a special dance that followed the journey of the harvest from the garden to the kitchen, followed by a musical performance from the students themselves.
Senator Trish Crossin and Stephanie addressed the guests, who were then invited to an incredible lunch prepared by the students.
All in all a very moving event that focused on the school community and the great sense of place enjoyed by Alawa Primary. Congratulations Alawa and welcome to the Kitchen Garden Community!
