Congratulations to Eaglehawk PS

Eaglehawk Primary School was thrilled to receive a Partnership with Parents and Community Award at the Victorian Education Excellence Awards at Crown Palladium in May.
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program was a key component of the application in that it reflected partnerships across a range of dimensions: the kitchen itself was developed by the Rotary Club of Eaglehawk, parents and community members volunteer on a regular basis in the kitchen, and they also help the school’s gardener, Brian, on a regular basis.

As the school is in the process of relocating and merging with two others in the area, the award will be a great springboard for building new relationships at the brand-new facilities. The Kitchen Garden Program will play a big part in the new school and its extended community.

"The award is perfect to help build the culture at the new school. It will help us build family engagement and involve families in a really thoughtful way using the Family Friendly Schools Program," says Principal Mary-Anne Rooney. "It's an affirmation that if you work with families and resources you can do fantastic things."

The award includes an opportunity for staff to attend a Family Friendly Schools conference and training in Phoenix, Arizona.
Well done to everyone at Eaglehawk PS from all of us in the Kitchen Garden community – a very well-deserved award.
