Department of Health & Ageing Representatives join a kitchen class!

Recently the Foundation invited representatives from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) to attend a kitchen class at Majura PS, in Watson ACT.

DoHA is the National Program partner of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and provides grants to schools across the country to implement the Kitchen Garden Program. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to see the fruits of that funding.

The day was a great experience for everyone involved, with guests enjoying a feast created by the Majura children, including a gai lan risotto, pumpkin & fetta pizza and a ‘kolkaslaw’ (kale & kohl rabi salad).

The school is our SAKGP Demonstration School for the ACT, and has just started kitchen classes after receiving funding for the Program in 2009.

The Majura school community is delighted with the Program and even happier to share their success with their government friends.
