The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation has been awarded a prestigious Premiers Design Mark in this year’s Victorian Premiers Design Awards. This is a mark of excellence that recognises the Kitchen Garden Program’s exemplary engagement with design. The Premier’s Design Awards "highlight exemplar initiatives in and from Victoria where design has been used effectively, sustainably and strategically to innovate, increase productivity and/or boost competitiveness and exports". Only five awards were presented this year, to the most outstanding design initiatives in Victoria. The final decision was based on fulfilling a set of criteria including the need for the design, the quality of the design outcome and process, and the value of the collaboration and engagement with the design process with consideration of the wider social and environmental benefits. We are thrilled to receive this acknowledgement, which recognises a part of our Program that often goes overlooked – the amount of time and consideration given to planning the Program so that it enjoys the success it does.
