Forbes North Public School wins Green Award
24-09-2012

Forbes North Public School in New South Wales was recently awarded a prestigious Green Award at the third annual NSW Department of Education and Communities’ Learning for Sustainability Awards. The school was recognised for its Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program and its Schools Environment Management Plan.

Of the nine schools recognised at the awards Forbes North Public was the only winner from the Western NSW Region.

To apply for an award, staff, students or teams from schools and TAFE colleges were invited to share their achievements in: sustainable water use; protecting native vegetation, biodiversity, land, rivers and coastal waterways; improving air quality; reducing waste; and clean energy. The schools and colleges were judged on criteria such as addressing an environmental need, student involvement with their broader communities, as well as the success and impact of the project.

Congratulations Forbes North PS!
