North Melbourne features in The Sustainable Table
25-01-2011

The book is ‘a collection of recipes and stories from notable chefs, farmers, producers, winemakers, gardeners and everyday people who are reducing their impact on the environment by altering their food choices. These inspiring people eat seasonally, shop locally, buy organic, reduce food waste, purchase ethically and make backyards and public spaces productive’.

North Melbourne PS proudly highlights its Kitchen Garden Program in a four-page feature that includes recipes cooked by the children, an overview of the Program, some discussion with Kitchen Garden Specialists Kathy and Tarsh, and a page featuring the kids and what they love about their Kitchen Garden Program. We’re very proud of our young spokespeople for being so proactive in the Australian good food community – well done North Melbourne!

The school is in good company, with the likes of noted chefs Annie Smithers, Dan Hunter and Adam D’Sylva also contributing recipes to the book.

Launched late last year, The Sustainable Table is a production of Yaubula, a non-profit organisation that raises money to support its sustainable development projects globally (see www.yaubula.org.au for more information).
