Chevallum State School wins Glossies Award

Congratulations to Kitchen Garden School Chevallum SS on winning the Edible Landscape Award in the 2011 Living Smart 'Glossies'.

The Edible Landscape Award is for a resident or an organisation that has reduced its ecological footprint by growing some of its own food using environmentally friendly methods. Chevallum SS won the award based on its achievements within its school garden, 'Salad Central', which it developed as part of its Kitchen Garden Program. Part of the win was the school's ability to produce a diverse array of quality food for its kitchen classes as well as 'Café Chevallum', the school tuckshop.

The Living Smart Awards, more affectionately known  as ‘The Glossies', are regarded as the Sunshine Coast's premier accolade recognising and celebrating sustainability achievements of Sunshine Coast residents, businesses and community groups in building design and construction, edible landscaping, sustainable transport and resource management.
