Inglewood State School flying high
11-07-2011 Not only has Inglewood State School recently launched its Kitchen Garden Program, it was also one of six state finalists in the Healthy Queensland Awards in the Healthy Schools category, receiving $50,000 towards healthy schools initiatives. The launch opened with a performance by the school band, and students taking visitors through an abundant garden and beautifully turned out kitchen.
Principal Peter Lund shared his thoughts and the journey the whole school had all been on, acknowledging the very supportive committee that had brought the Program together.
Fabulous kitchen stories were delivered by children Kate Osbourne, Henry Pietsch Lily Slack, Michael Osbourne and Katherine Forster. Foundation Project Officer Mel Schouten unveiled the plaque and gave a brief speech.
The large number of community supporters feasted on choko soup, chocolate & beetroot muffins, eggplant dip and some delicious homemade pizza, all under the school's new outdoor eating area, which was finished just in time for the celebration.
Congratulations to all at Inglewood State School - we look forward to sharing our kitchen garden journey with you.
