Excellent evaluation of Kitchen Garden Program stirs media attention28-06-2010
The recent launch of the Kitchen Garden Program Evaluation attracted lots of media attention, helping us spread the fantastic news about the results of our Program.
The evaluation of the Kitchen Garden Program was undertaken by a joint research team from the Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing & Behavioural Sciences, Deakin University and The McCaughey Centre: Vichealth Centre for the Promotion of Mental Health and Community Wellbeing, University of Melbourne, between 2007 and 2009.
The findings are extremely positive and demonstrate that the Kitchen Garden Program is encouraging positive health behaviour change in participating children. The evaluation also highlights the transfer of benefits to the home and the broader community.
"We now have confirmed what we previously knew anecdotally. The Program is effective in changing children's behaviour and response to food in a positive way." Stephanie Alexander.
Many national media representatives attended the launch, with stories later appearing in the major press and broadcasting networks. Stephanie's phone has been ringing hot, and the Foundation is grateful to have so many opportunities to speak to the public.
For those of you who missed the television, radio or print coverage, we have posted some of the highlights below for you to enjoy.
