Congratulations to our award-winning Kitchen Garden Schools
14-11-2009

There is no doubt that the Kitchen Garden Program brings many benefits to all involved. One of the more glamorous benefits is the positive recognition that can come through external awards and accolades. Many of our schools have worked hard to achieve such recognition, with a swag of awards received since the Program's inception in 2001.

Several schools have recently achieved amazing results and recognition for their school and Kitchen Garden Program. We are so excited to hear this news and incredibly proud of our school communities' achievements.

Awarded to Rosedale State School for their involvement with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden National Program.

The award recognises the diverse and exciting activities that are being undertaken in school for children of primary school age which promote citizenship and pride in Australia. In its 32nd year, the Schools' Garden Awards, awarded by the Nursery & Garden Industry Victoria, encourages school communities to utilise their gardens and grounds effectively, and supports the full development of every student.

"For the second year in a row we won the regional award. We also took out one of three Pink Heath awards for continuous improvement and we also won the Kevin Heinze perpetual trophy. All up our total prize package was $3300 in garden vouchers so we were pretty pleased with this result which of course our Stephanie Alexander garden was a large part of."
