Stephanie scoops the Maggie Beer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Australian Food15-05-2009
Stephanie Alexander's inspiring work as chef, author, educator and founder of the Kitchen Garden Foundation has been recognised via the Maggie Beer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Australian Food, 2009 Vogue Entertaining + Travel Produce Awards.
This award acknowledges an individual who has set an industry standard or made a significant contribution to Australian food and/or gastronomic culture, whether through production, education (training and teaching), promotion, research, marketing and/or as a provedore. Award winners are selected by Maggie Beer, as Patron of the Produce Awards.
"From early on, Stephanie was a supporter of small producers, and mentor to so many of today's great chefs. (The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program) is a culmination of her life's work. Her vision and drive in bringing people together around the country makes this the most exciting thing happening on the Australian food scene today," said Maggie Beer.
