Stephanie and friends host a special Bondi dinner
28-10-2010

Bondi Public School will host a once-only exceptional Australian food event, incorporating several of the nation's foremost chefs, in support of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

On Saturday 20 November, a remarkable dinner will be presented to a maximum of 100 guests within the school grounds, surrounded by the school's beautiful kitchen garden.

The dinner will see five renowned chefs collaborating to produce a unique meal. The chefs include:

  • Founder of the Kitchen Garden movement in Australian primary schools, Stephanie Alexander
  • NSW Ambassador for the Kitchen Garden Program, Kylie Kwong
  • Sean Moran of Sean's Panaroma
  • Damien Pignolet from Bistro Moncur at the Woollahra Hotel
  • Pete Evans of Hugo's Group, and Bondi parent.

The team will prepare and present a stunning five-course dinner, to be served in the newly completed Building the Education Revolution hall at the school.

Bondi Primary School is the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Demonstration School for NSW. The school will throw open its doors for a pre-dinner tour of the beautiful kitchen and thriving, productive garden, both of which are maintained and used by students in weekly kitchen and garden classes.

The philosophy of the Kitchen Garden Program stresses that the most delicious food is seasonal food, prepared simply to allow its flavours to shine through. Each chef will be sourcing the finest and freshest organic ingredients to prepare their dishes, including contributions from the school garden.

Ingredients not sourced from the school garden are being donated by supportive sponsors, along with all wines, which will be selected to accompany the meal.

The aim of the evening is to showcase the Kitchen Garden Program at Bondi, to inspire other primary schools by demonstrating what can be achieved within small school communities, and to raise funds to sustain the Kitchen Garden Program at the school. There are currently 21 primary schools participating in the Kitchen Garden Program across NSW, part of a growing movement that involves almost 140 schools across Australia.

The cost for this exceptional night is only $250 per person. Interested participants are advised to book early, as this is a singular, once-only event.

For bookings, contact Kim Morris at Bondi on 02 9130 6998.
