Another year in the life of the Kitchen Garden Foundation

Once again we're saying it - what a year!

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program continued to grow around Australia and overseas in 2010. We welcomed our successful Round 3 National Program schools, opened another round of ‘Go for your life' grants in Victoria, and joined our affiliated New Zealand Garden to Table schools in celebrating their growing kitchen gardens.

The interest in pleasurable food education continues to grow and grow. The Kitchen Garden Program Evaluation, launched in June, added academic weight to what we all know - that this innovative food education model works!

Stephanie continued to be recognised for her wonderful work, with acknowledgement as Victorian of the Year and through the Premier's Design Award, as well as the innumerable prizes she continues to collect for her kitchen-garden-inspired books.

Of course it's not just the Kitchen Garden Foundation that attracts the limelight - many Kitchen Garden Schools were featured in local and national media throughout the year. Local papers love a good news story, and schools have made headlines with fabulous events, real community engagement and beautiful gardens. Congratulations to every one of our inspiring schools!

2011 is already looking like a bigger year, with further funding opportunities ensuring that even more schools join our revolution. We will announce an extended training program (including exciting options for the general public), develop extensive new learning resources, grow an even better website and continue to support Kitchen Garden Schools around the country.

Remarkably, we will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Kitchen Garden Program! Stay tuned for details and find out how you can join the party.
