Apollo Bay P-12 off to a great start

Apollo Bay P-12 College received funding to implement the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Victorian Program in early 2011 and have forged ahead in leaps and bounds since. Term 1 of 2012 saw the Apollo Bay students enjoying their very first kitchen and garden classes. The garden is thriving, abundant with beautiful produce, and the first term of kitchen classes was a huge success.

Peer-to-peer connection at Port Fairy PS

Our ‘Regional Networking’ sessions are designed to enable staff from Kitchen Garden Schools in local areas to connect with each other, share experiences, discuss challenges and learn how different schools run and benefit from the Kitchen Garden Program. Our latest Victorian session, hosted by Port Fairy PS in Western Victoria, has demonstrated just how valuable these sessions are.

A sold-out inaugural Tasmanian bus tour!

Our recent first-ever Tasmanian Kitchen Garden Schools bus tour proved to be a great day. Guests from early childhood centres and programs, high schools and community centres as well as our own Kitchen Garden Schools enjoyed visiting three local schools to view the Program in action and ask questions of students and staff.

Family Foodie Weekend at ArtPlay

As part of Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s Riverside Opening Weekend the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation took part in the Family Foodie Weekend at ArtPlay. The event was held at Birrarung Marr on the banks of the Yarra River over the first weekend of March.

Exciting line-up of public workshops

Over the summer the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden team has been busy working on an exciting line-up of public workshops. Commencing on 11 February, the public workshops will cover an array of skills ranging from cheese making and preserving to espaliering and building garden beds with recycled products.
