Wyalkatchem District High School is a Waterwise school situated in the small town of Wyalkatchem 191 kms north east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. The school has approximately 100 students from four to seventeen years old coming from within the local community and from the surrounding towns of Koorda Trayning and Kununoppin. The school is well resourced physically with two undercover areas (one with sound system and staging) a computer laboratory Design and Technology workshops (focus on metals and wood) a Home Economics room and a recently refurbished central quadrangle and junior playground which allows for passive and active play. The school has additional resources of a 100 hectare farm and permaculture garden. Students run vegetable growing enterprises propagate plants and operate a small egg production business. The cropping aspect of the farm is run by local community groups and allows students close access to broad acre farming concepts.
