Details

In the garden Tom Hayward, experienced Garden Specialist at two SAKGP schools – Blair Athol North and The Heights – will run a hands-on garden session drawing on his wealth of experience and knowledge. Meanwhile Amore Woodfired Ovens will ignite your passion for woodfired ovens in the school setting. Participants will enjoy a chance to cook traditional Afghan Bulani in the Blair Athol North oven.

In the kitchen we'll be supported by Jodi Rimmer, Blair Athol North's Kitchen Specialist, in a celebration of Afghan cuisine as we cook up a storm of  rice, lamb, yoghurt and vegetable dishes for our shared lunch. Parents from the local Afghan community at Blair Athol will also join us to discuss cooking with kids in schools.

Kylie McRostie, Program Co-ordinator at Blair Athol, will also talk to participants about how she has been integrating the Kitchen Garden Program into the wider curriculum. All schools regardless of the stage of their Program will benefit from this valuable insight into how you can extend the learning opportunities of your kitchen and garden.
