Derek Ashby will be showing you how to build a 'banana circle', creating an appropriate micro-climate for growing banana plants. Banana plants provide great learning opportunities for students, the leaves can be used in the kitchen for platters, steaming and garnishes, and obviously the fruit is a huge boon.
In the garden, classes can focus on water requirements, creating extra heat through the cold months through the banana circle compost, how to keep frost away and so much more.
