(Previously known as the 'Fundamentals' course.)

Are you a staff member at an established Kitchen Garden Program school but you are new to the Kitchen Garden Program? Or have you recently joined the Kitchen Garden Classroom?

This introductory one-day professional learning is open to new members and Program Schools who have new or additional staff to train. It incorporates hands-on, skills-based instruction in the kitchen and garden learning spaces, giving attendees everything they need to confidently deliver pleasurable food education to their students.

Details

Delivering Kitchen Garden Classes is designed specifically for new staff joining established Kitchen Garden Program Schools and is also ideal for any new Kitchen Garden Classroom members. It is also useful for any school staff involved in the Program, such as Principals, Assistant Principals and classroom teachers, who would benefit from a deeper understanding of how pleasurable food education operates and how to make the most of it for their community.

The session covers all elements of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation pleasurable food education philosophy and delivery. It centres on the hands-on aspects of delivering kitchen and garden classes, but also includes modules on integrating pleasurable food education, planning menus and creating garden activities, as well as planning classes and incorporating volunteers.

The session is led by an experienced facilitator who will provide opportunities for you to ask questions and discuss your school’s individual circumstances. The day will also feature a delicious shared lunch based on Kitchen Garden Program recipes.

[Note: If you have recently attended the two-day Program Delivery Training we recommend you consider Networking & Skills Days instead, which provide opportunities for fun, skilled workshops that extend your knowledge even further, and are a great way of networking with other people delivering the Program.]

We look forward to working with you!

Additional Details
