The workshop will involve a fascinating day of learning with two sessions facilitated by highly experienced food and garden professionals. You'll attend both kitchen and garden sessions and have plenty of time to discuss what has been happening in your school's Kitchen Garden Program.
In the kitchen, Dr Heather Way will run a hands-on fermentation workshop and discuss the role that microbes play in our overall health. Dr Way has a PhD in Molecular Pathology and is a certified nutritionist, nutrigenomic practitioner and researcher. You will have an opportunity to try your fermented foods at lunch and even take some home.
In the garden, Rob Bauer will discuss establishing and maintaining soil nutrition, pest and disease management, succession planting and crops suitable for the South Eastern Queensland environment. Rob started growing organically over 30 years ago and has the largest certified organic farm in Queensland.
