Cracking Curriculum Ideas includes self-directed learning which can be done at your pace. The five modules of this course include text and video-based instruction, as well as downloadable resources such as teaching notes and student templates, which deliver the course outcomes.

Cracking Curriculum Ideas focuses on linking your kitchen garden program with the following learning areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Design and technologies
  • Health and physical education.

The course also offers ideas for other learning areas and subjects, including the arts, science, history and geography.

Course objectives

  • Understand how to uncover meaningful learning opportunities in the kitchen garden, which link to the Curriculum.
  • Enhance skills in planning and managing learning objectives.
  • Develop practical teaching activities with access to relevant resources.
  • Develop teaching strategies to support Curriculum integration, including inquiry-based learning and project-based learning.

The outcomes of this course are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers as outlined by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
