Kitchen Garden Specialist Training (Intensive Model) is mandatory training provided for Kitchen Garden Specialists based at our National Program schools running the Intensive Model from 2013 onwards. It is in-depth, hands-on training designed to provide all the basics to Specialists who deliver classes under the National Program.
The training consists of two sessions, an Introductory session and an Advanced session, each of which runs over one day. These sessions are scheduled approximately six months apart.
Details
Each school implementing the Intensive Model (with Specialists running the kitchen and garden classes) should send two staff members to this training. It is designed specifically for the designated Kitchen Specialist and Garden Specialist staff members who will deliver yor school's kitchen and garden classes.
Please note: If your school is running the Flexible Model (all kitchen and garden classes are led by two of your school's teachers or a teacher and a Specialist), you will instead attend the Introductory and Advanced Program Delivery Training sessions.
This training will help Specialists develop and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program philosophy and delivery. Both days concentrate on learning hands-on techniques, but also include sessions on practical skills development such as advanced planning and volunteer and budget management. This is the ideal training to take the Kitchen Garden Program to the next level of garden productivity and to develop inspired kitchen menus.
We look forward to working with you!
