Kitchen Garden Specialist Training (Intensive Model) is mandatory training provided for Kitchen Garden Specialists based at our National Program schools running the Intensive Model from 2013 onwards. It is in-depth, hands-on training designed to provide all the basics to Specialists who deliver classes under the National Program.
The training consists of two sessions, an Introductory session and an Advanced session, each of which runs over one day. These sessions are scheduled approximately six months apart.
Details
Each school running the Flexible Model (with at least one teacher leading kitchen or garden classes without the additional presence of the students’ classroom teacher ) should send two staff members to this training. It is designed for the staff members who will deliver kitchen and garden classes, whether they are a teacher or a Kitchen Garden Specialist. If schools have only one staff member delivering kitchen classes as well as garden classes, a supporting Kitchen Garden Assistant is required to attend this training. It is a decision of the school which person attends the kitchen stream or the garden stream within this training.
Additional Details
Please come prepared for hands-on sessions in kitchen or garden, so closed shoes are a must, and you may be outside for parts of each day so should bring hats/sunscreen or coats as necessary. We also recommend you bring a camera, notebook and pen.You will receive a copy of the Introductory or Advanced Kitchen Garden Program Syllabus at your sessions, as well as a folder containing useful handouts for supplementary information.
