These full-day and highly anticipated advanced workshops enable Kitchen and Garden Specialists to build on their skills and develop new ones through specialised workshops and networking. The workshops vary every time, but you can find topics such as advanced bread-making, sausage-making, fruit tree espaliering and caring for chooks.

Details

Specialist Professional Development is the ultimate kitchen and garden learning experience: an entire day filled with hands-on workshops, discussions and skill sessions. The training is designed to enhance Kitchen and Garden Specialists' knowledge and skills, to help you plan, prepare and deliver successful, engaging and enjoyable kitchen and garden classes in your schools. Sessions are based on Kitchen Garden Program activities, and led by passionate and established facilitators who are often leaders in their fields of expertise.

This year we welcome workshop facilitators including Matt Wilkinson (Pope Joan) Teresa Oates (Mangia! Mangia!), Isobel Piper, Kemi Nekvapil, Outback Chef Jude Mayall, Carolyn Grey (Cunliffe & Waters), Angelo Eliades, Melbourne City Rooftop Honey, Book-a-Chook, Flemings Nurseries, Adam Grub and Wendy van Dort to the day.

The day concludes at 3.45pm, after a closing wine-and-cheese-sharing and recipe-and-seedling-swap session. Please bring some copies of your favourite recipe or a few spare seedlings to share with your fellow Specialists!

Additional Details

Please choose workshops according to your own skills preferences and your role at your school - it is highly recommended that Garden Specialists attend garden workshops and Kitchen Specialists attend kitchen workshops. Please come dressed appropriately for hands-on sessions - all attendees are asked to wear covered shoes for safety, and if choosing garden workshops please note that unless the weather is inclement we will be outdoors and you should dress appropriately for the weather.
