A bushtucker garden is always a great addition to any school kitchen garden, with the interesting and wonderful flavours our native food plants can bring to the kitchen. But natives can be tricky. Narelle Happ brings years of experience working with native plants to help answer your questions about what works in NSW and how to incorporate these useful plants into your garden design.

In this workshop, horticulturalist Narelle Happ will give you the benefit of her ten years of experience, six of which she has spent working at the Sydney Wildflower Nursery – a native specialist nursery. Narelle is the nursery’s Garden Designer and has implemented and designed native and bushtucker gardens for residential and school gardens.

Having grown up with grandparents who had their own market garden business, gardening has always been in Narelle’s blood. She qualified with Certificate II & III in Horticulture from Ryde Technical College and more recently a Permaculture Design Certificate from Milkwood Permaculture.

Narelle embarked on her Permaculture Certificate to complement her native plant knowledge and to pursure her passion of creating food gardens in schools. Last year Narelle launched her own business, A Garden for Life, and continues to work at Sydney Wildflower Nursery.
