Program Delivery Training is mandatory training provided for Kitchen Garden Teachers at our National Program schools from 2013 onwards. It is in-depth, hands-on training designed to provide all the basics to teachers delivering kitchen and/or garden classes, as well as specialists who deliver classes under the National Program.

It consists of two sessions, an Introductory session consisting of two days training and an Advanced session which completes in one day. These sessions are scheduled approximately six months apart and are each divided into a 'kitchen stream' or a 'garden stream'.

Intake 4 commences in July 2014, with the Introductory Session, and completes in October 2014 with the Advanced Session.

The training days are full days, with hands-on workshops in kitchen and garden environments, along with some group work. Everything from the philosophy of the Foundation, to specific kitchen and garden skills, through to managing the Program at your school will be covered in these training days. Importantly you will also meet other new Kitchen Garden Schools, have an opportunity to connect with other teachers new to the Kitchen Garden Program, meet some of our Foundation staff, and learn how to use our Shared Table website to support your progress through the Program.

Additional Details

You will choose to take either the Kitchen or Garden streams at the sessions, depending upon your area of specialty at your school. Please come prepared for hands-on sessions in kitchen or garden, so closed shoes are a must, and garden teachers may be outside for parts of each day so should bring hats/sunscreen or coats as necessary. A camera, notebook and pen are also recommended. If you have an iPad we would aslo encourage you to bring this with you on day one.

You will receive a copy of the Introductory or Advanced Kitchen Garden Program Syllabus at your sessions, as well as a folder containing useful handouts for supplementary information.
