This Intake 4 session commences nationally from July 2014, and will complete approximately 4 – 6 months later.

Each new school should send two staff members to this training. It is designed for the staff members who will deliver kitchen and garden classes, whether they are a teacher or a Kitchen Garden Specialist. If schools have only one staff member delivering kitchen classes as well as garden classes, a supporting Kitchen Garden Assistant is required to attend this training. It is a decision of the school which person attends the kitchen stream or the garden stream within this training.

The training days are full days, with hands-on workshops in kitchen and garden environments, along with some group work. Everything from the philosophy of the Foundation, to specific kitchen and garden skills, through to managing the Program at your school will be covered in these training days. Importantly you will also meet other new Kitchen Garden Schools, have an opportunity to connect with other teachers new to the Kitchen Garden Program, meet some of our Foundation staff, and learn how to use our Shared Table website to support your progress through the Program.

Additional Details

You will choose to take either the Kitchen or Garden streams at the sessions, depending upon your area of specialty at your school. Please come prepared for hands-on sessions in kitchen or garden, so closed shoes are a must, and garden teachers may be outside for parts of each day so should bring hats/sunscreen or coats as necessary. A camera, notebook and pen are also recommended.

You will receive a copy of the Introductory or Advanced Kitchen Garden Program Syllabus at your sessions, as well as a folder containing useful handouts for supplementary information.
