The Kitchen Garden Program can deliver outcomes for all areas of primary school curriculum through its fun, hands-on approach to learning.

This 75-minute online workshop will walk you through strategies on how you can link your kitchen garden program to the curriculum, as well as key resources the Foundation offers to support you in doing this. You’ll hear from an experienced kitchen garden educator to hear exactly how curriculum integration works at their school. 

This interactive workshop provides an opportunity for primary school educators, kitchen garden educators and school leadership to explore ways of embedding your kitchen garden program to the curriculum. Don’t forget your pen and paper, there will be lots of information sharing, tips and ideas!

On the day, participants will:

  • gain inspiration and strategies for curriculum integration 
  • explore Foundation resources available to support curriculum integration
  • “dig in” to a resource and explore the curriculum links in action
  • see curriculum integration in action, with an experienced kitchen garden educator. 

Additional Details

This online workshop will take place using Zoom. A link will be sent to all registered participants before the event. You can join the workshop using a computer, tablet or mobile phone. 

A recording of the workshop will be sent to participants after the session. 

The outcomes of this course are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers as outlined by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).

Wellbeing in the kitchen garden will contribute evidence towards 1.0 hours of accredited professional development in maintaining the following standards:

2.1: Apply knowledge of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area to develop engaging teaching activities.

2.3: Design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements.

2.5: Know and understand literacy and numeracy teaching strategies and their application in teaching areas.
