Volunteers play an integral part in kitchen and garden classes, and are vital to the Program's success. This session focuses both on finding volunteers and the tried and tested ways of keeping them coming back, as well as other key methods of sustaining the Program through sponsorship and donations.

Details

Many schools find that recruiting and retaining volunteers can prove a challenge. We will first look at successful case studies and strategies from existing Kitchen Gardens Schools, and include time to discuss individual situations within a group workshop scenario.

We will then investigate the many community-based partners and sponsors that have willingly supported Kitchen Garden Schools in sustaining their Programs. Donations, sponsorship, volunteering, discounts and specialist knowledge have all been obtained via individual sponsor relationships, and we will use this session to share some of the successes from our schools.
