Are you a staff member at an established Kitchen Garden Program school but you are new to the Kitchen Garden Program? This introductory one-day training is open to schools already running the Program that have new or additional staff to train. It incorporates hands-on, skills-based instruction in the kitchen and garden learning spaces, giving attendees everything they need to confidently deliver a rich educational Program to their students.

Delivering Kitchen Garden Classes is designed specifically for new staff joining established Kitchen Garden Schools. It is also useful for any school staff involved in the Program, such as Principals, Assistant Principals and classroom teachers, who would benefit from a deeper understanding of how the Program operates and how to make the most of it for their school community.

The training covers all elements of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program philosophy and delivery. It centres on the hands-on aspect of the delivery of kitchen and garden classes, but also includes sessions on integrating the Program, planning menus and creating garden activities, as well as planning classes and incorporating volunteers.

Each training day is led by an experienced facilitator who will provide opportunities for you to ask questions and discuss your school’s individual circumstances. The day will also feature a delicious shared lunch based on Kitchen Garden Program recipes.

Additional Details

Hands-on kitchen and garden sessions form a big part of the day, so please wear closed shoes, and clothing suitable for an hour-long session in the garden.
