Interested in the Kitchen Garden Program? Get started!

Welcome to the Shared Table – the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation’s (SAKGF) online community for kitchen garden educators. These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Shared Table, hosted on the Circle platform (CircleCo, Inc., USA).

These Terms sit alongside:

These three documents apply to your participation. By registering, you confirm you have read and agree to them.

1. Eligibility and Access

The Shared Table is an online community for adult professionals aged 18 and over. It is open to staff and educators at Kitchen Garden Program member schools and early childhood services, as well as SAKGF staff, volunteers, and invited partners.

Membership is individual – each person needs their own account and must agree to these Terms personally. An organisation cannot accept these Terms on someone else’s behalf.

While your access is connected to your organisation’s Kitchen Garden Program membership, you participate as an individual and are personally responsible for how you engage in the community.

From time to time in the course of your work, you may share your screen or show community content to colleagues or students who don’t have their own accounts. Please be mindful when doing so – these Terms apply to your use of the community, and you remain responsible for any content you choose to share with others.

Access to the Shared Table is a benefit of active Kitchen Garden Program membership and may be suspended if your organisation’s membership lapses or is cancelled, or if your organisation exceeds a membership threshold. Membership fees, renewal and cancellation are governed by the Kitchen Garden Program Membership Terms and Conditions.

SAKGF reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw access to the Shared Table at any time and for any period without affecting a member’s broader membership status, fees or other benefits, unless SAKGF determines otherwise.

If SAKGF becomes aware that a person under 18 has accessed the Shared Table, their account will be deactivated and their data handled in accordance with SAKGF’s Privacy Policy and Data Retention and Destruction Policy at https://www.kitchengardenfoundation.org.au/policies

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and should not share your account access with any other person. Unauthorised sharing of accounts may result in loss of access.

2. Platform Provider

The Shared Table is hosted on Circle (CircleCo, Inc., USA). By joining, your data is also subject to Circle’s Terms of Service which are available at shared-table.kitchengardenfoundation.org.au/terms. Circle processes member data as a third-party sub-processor and, as a US-based entity, may not be required to meet the same standard as Australian privacy law. Circle also holds a broad, ongoing licence to process member-submitted content—including in anonymised form—for platform improvement. Members should be aware of this when contributing to the community.

3. Conduct

All members are expected to participate in accordance with the Shared Table Community Guidelines.

The following conduct is not permitted on the Shared Table:

  • Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or threatening behaviour;
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or vilification on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected attribute;
  • Posting content that may be defamatory about any individual, organisation, or entity;
  • Sharing content that is intentionally misleading or false, or content that may harm regardless of intent;
  • Posting obscene, sexually explicit, or violent content;
  • Sharing another person’s personal information without their consent;
  • Spam or unsolicited commercial promotion;
  • Sharing links to content that is inappropriate or unlawful;
  • Impersonating any person or organisation;
  • Infringing the intellectual property rights of any third party;
  • Any content that sexualises, exploits, or endangers children or young people;
  • Presenting personal opinions or experiences as professional medical, nutritional, legal, or financial advice—members seeking guidance in these areas should consult a qualified professional;
  • Any conduct that violates applicable Australian law.

Children should not access the Shared Table directly. If you become aware that a child is accessing the community (including through an adult’s account), please notify SAKGF immediately at support@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au

4. Content and Intellectual Property

SAKGF Content

All resources in the Shared Table Resource Library and content published by SAKGF are the intellectual property of SAKGF unless stated otherwise. You may use this material for non-commercial and educational purposes only, retaining all acknowledgements.

Member Content

When you post or share content on the Shared Table, you confirm that:

  • You own the content or have the necessary rights and permissions to share it;
  • It does not infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights;
  • Any individuals depicted have consented to being photographed or recorded and to that material being shared in this community;
  • If and where images feature children, you have obtained formal consent from a parent, guardian, or carer, and the content complies with your organisation’s student privacy policies.

We discourage sharing images that show the faces of children or young people—please use extra caution before posting any such images here.

By posting content, you grant SAKGF a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and sub-licence it for the purposes of operating the Shared Table and for SAKGF’s promotional and educational purposes. Do not submit content you would not be comfortable with SAKGF using in this way.

We understand that members may share Shared Table content with their classrooms and colleagues in the course of running the program. However, sharing content posted by others beyond the community, such as on social media or other public platforms, requires prior written permission from the original author and SAKGF.

AI-Assisted Content

Members may use AI tools in their contributions. Where AI assistance has been used to create a resource intended for use by others (such as a recipe, lesson plan, guide or template), this should be clearly labelled at the time of posting so others can make informed decisions. Labelling is not required for incidental assistance such as drafting or editing a post.

Members are responsible for reviewing AI-assisted content for accuracy before sharing. SAKGF does not verify member-contributed resources and cannot guarantee that AI-generated content meets professional, educational, or regulatory standards. Misleading or non-compliant content may be removed.

AI-generated images or representations of children are not permitted under any circumstances, including fictional, stylised, or anonymised depictions.

Indemnity

By posting or sharing content on the Shared Table, you agree to indemnify SAKGF, its officers, employees, and volunteers against any claims, losses, damages, costs, or liability arising from your use or misuse of content on the Shared Table, including any claim that content you have posted or uploaded infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party, breaches any person’s privacy, or was shared without appropriate consent—including in relation to images featuring children or other identifiable individuals.

5. Private Messaging

Private messaging may be available to members. The same conduct standards apply in private messages as in public spaces.

SAKGF does not monitor private messages but reserves the right to access them where necessary to investigate a complaint, respond to a report of harmful conduct, or fulfil a child safety or legal obligation.

Private messages may be retained to support complaints handling and child safety obligations.

If you receive a private message that concerns you, you can report it using the Report function within the community platform, or via email to support@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au

6. Hosted Events and Live Sessions

The Shared Table may host live events within the Circle platform, such as webinars, expert Q&As, and masterclasses. The same conduct standards that apply across the community apply in these sessions.

Where a session will be recorded, members will be notified in advance. By participating, you consent to your image, voice, and contributions being captured and made available to the community. Recordings, transcripts, and related materials are the intellectual property of SAKGF and must not be shared outside the Shared Table without SAKGF’s prior written permission.

Content shared by participants during sessions (such as questions or comments) is community-confidential. Members must not reproduce, quote, or share others’ contributions outside the community without their consent.

7. Privacy and Data

SAKGF collects and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Our full Privacy Policy is available at https://www.kitchengardenfoundation.org.au/policies

By joining the Shared Table, SAKGF may collect your name, email address, profile information, content you post or share, private messages, and platform usage data via Circle.

The Shared Table is a gated community – content is visible to members, SAKGF staff, invited partners and platform administrators (including Circle support staff), and is not intended as publicly accessible. However, SAKGF may use member content for promotional or educational purposes, including on public channels such as social media, and there is always some possibility that content shared in any online community may be seen beyond its intended audience. We ask that you post with this in mind, treating the Shared Table as a professional community space and applying the same care and judgement you would in any public professional context.

If you wish to have content you have posted removed, contact us at support@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au and SAKGF will use reasonable endeavours to comply, subject to any legal or operational reasons for retention. We encourage you to consider the value your contributions hold for the broader community before requesting removal: this knowledge base belongs to everyone.

On cancellation or lapsing of membership, contributed content may be retained given its ongoing value to the community.

In the event of any unauthorised access to personal information held within the platform, SAKGF will notify affected members in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Content featuring children uploaded by members is subject to the same privacy protections as personal information about a child. The uploading member is responsible for having obtained appropriate permissions before posting.

8. Moderation

SAKGF fulfils its obligations as an online community facilitator under the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth), including maintaining accessible reporting mechanisms, records of moderation actions, and timely response to harmful content.

We reserve the right to remove or edit content, issue warnings, restrict posting or other permissions, or suspend or permanently remove access, with or without prior notice. Immediate action may be taken where content poses a risk to safety, child protection, or legal compliance.

Where content involving a child safety concern is identified, SAKGF will preserve a record of the content before removing it and will escalate in accordance with its child safety policies.

SAKGF maintains records of moderation actions to support consistent, fair decision-making and regulatory compliance.

9. Reporting your Concerns

If you encounter content or behaviour that you believe violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines, please report it using the in-platform reporting tools or by contacting SAKGF at support@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au

All reports are treated seriously. SAKGF is committed to responding to reports of harmful content promptly. Anonymous reports can be made, though SAKGF may be limited in its ability to follow up without detailed information.

10. Moderation Appeals

If you believe a moderation decision has been applied unfairly, contact support@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au within 14 days. SAKGF will endeavour to acknowledge your concern within one business week and endeavour to resolve it within 20 business days. SAKGF’s decision on any appeal is final.

Decisions taken in response to immediate safety, child protection, or legal concerns may not be subject to the standard appeals process and will not be subject to further review.

11. Competitions

Where SAKGF runs competitions through the Shared Table, these will be governed by a separate Competitions Policy published at the time. Competitions are open to current members only unless otherwise stated. Participation or non-winning does not affect membership status or access. All competitions are conducted as games of skill.

12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

SAKGF provides the Shared Table as a service to its members and takes reasonable steps to ensure it is safe, well-governed and valuable. SAKGF does not warrant that the platform will be continuously available, error-free, or free of harmful content at all times.

SAKGF is not responsible for content posted by members and does not endorse member views. Links to external sites shared by members do not constitute SAKGF endorsement. Members access external links at their own risk.

To the extent permitted by law, SAKGF’s liability to any member in connection with the Shared Table is limited to the value of that member’s most recent membership fee.
