ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF) provides the inspiration, information, professional development and support for educational institutions to deliver pleasurable food education, in conjunction with educators, partners and the wider community.

Our dedicated workforce of Healthy Kids Advisors provide hands on support for healthy, delicious food and drink in places where children and families gather, including schools, sports clubs, outside school hours care and community/council operated facilities. Children and young people deserve access to healthy, fresh food and drink where they learn and play. You can be a part of this.

SAKGF is seeking a Communications and Engagement Assistant to support the delivery of the Healthy Kids Advisors initiative. Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Lead, this role will drive awareness, generate excitement, and engage with local communities.  The Assistant will support with key communications and engagement administration tasks and work closely with the Healthy Kids Advisors team across the state.

You will join a friendly, supportive and collaborative group of people dedicated to delivering pleasurable food education to young Australians.

  • Part time (0.4 – 0.6 FTE will be considered)
  • This position is based in Victoria. Regional and remote candidates are encouraged.
  • Salary is commensurate with experience and includes salary packaging and benefits.

Healthy Kids Advisors is supported by the Victorian Government and the Australian Government and funded until June 2024.

ABOUT YOU

We are a small not-for-profit that exists in a changeable environment and is open to opportunity and change. You will need to be willing to handle a rapidly adapting workplace, with a responsive and flexible attitude. We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualification (or completing final year) in communications, marketing or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using and producing content for social media platforms, websites and electronic communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively across a team.
  • A passion for fresh, seasonal, delicious food is essential.

The position will require occasional travel. The applicant must be able to legally work in Australia, hold a valid Working With Children Check, and be up to date with their COVID vaccinations.
