Costa Group sponsors 10 regional schools

Monday, April 21, 2025

We’re excited to announce the first 10 sponsored recipients who will join the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program thanks to our values-aligned partnership with Costa Group, Australia’s leading grower of fresh fruit and vegetables.

These schools are amongst the first to receive support through our three-year partnership, which will see a total of 30 schools or early childhood services welcomed into our kitchen garden community across Australia. Each of these schools and services will be based in a community where Costa Group operates farms, to foster connections between education, agriculture, their staff and the community.

We warmly welcome:

  • Atherton State Primary School, QLD
  • Mareeba State School, QLD
  • East Devonport Primary School, TAS
  • Our Lady of Lourdes, TAS
  • Guyra Central School, NSW
  • Kelly’s Plains Public School, NSW
  • Nairne Primary School, SA
  • Nangiloc Colignan and District Primary School, SA
  • Unity College, SA
  • Loxton District Childcare Centre, SA

“Providing hands on gardening and cooking experiences will not only help develop an understanding of plants and nutrition but also provide a safe calming space to nurture student wellbeing.”

Guyra Central School, NSW

Each sponsored site will receive a two-year membership to the Kitchen Garden Program, providing the knowledge, support and inspiration to these educators so they can empower children and young people to develop lifelong skills in growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing fresh, seasonal food.

An infrastructure grant has also been provided to support their kitchen garden activities. This budget might go towards repairing or building garden beds, purchasing new cooking equipment or adding a compost system or irrigation. We can’t wait to uncover their goals and support each one on their kitchen garden journey!

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and Costa Group have partnered in a values-aligned multi-year agreement that ensures more children and young people from around Australia experience pleasurable food education.
