Nemarluk School is located in the Darwin suburb of Ludmilla. It offers practical, real-life programs to students with disabilities who have high support needs. Staff work in partnership with families to assist students to develop skills that will maximise their independence in school, home and community environments - 'education for life'. There are nineteen class groups, including two preschool groups. Eight primary school-aged and two preschool classes are based at the Nemarluk School site whilst nine (satellite) classes are located in five primary schools in the Darwin and rural areas. These classes are generally at their host primary schools for 3 to 4 days per week. During this time, many students interact with their age-equivalent peers within classroom and play environments. All classes return to Nemarluk School for the remaining 1 to 2 days per week to access more specialised and practical programs and to engage within a smaller, safe and highly supervised setting.
