Since 1963, Lalor Secondary College, a Year 7 to 12 co-educational school, has provided the communities of Lalor and nearby Epping and Thomastown with educational opportunities that prepare students for their chosen pathways, be it tertiary study, trade or work. The school, with a population of around 1,020 students, has embedded within our welfare and teaching practice the core values of Pride, Achievement, Caring, Cooperation and Honesty. The College provides a caring and supportive learning environment with a curriculum that prepares students for life in a global world through our Learning for Life Program in Years 7 to 10. A strong careers/pathways program ensures the retention rate is high and assures all students in Years 10 to12 receive individual counselling so their choices are supported and assured by the school. Approximately 40 nationalities amongst students produce a culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners. Our programs are enriched by drawing on this range of cultures and backgrounds and our annual Cultural Concert celebrates the many cultures within our school. Lalor SC will be undergoing major building works in 2010 with the federally funded Science Centre. We are also investing significant resources to improve computing facilities for all students.
