Eligibility  

This resource is designed for educators, principals, and school staff in South Australia who are interested in teaching children and young people how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food.  

You do not have to be a member of the Kitchen Garden Program to access The Learning Garden.

We hope this taste of food education will inspire you. Thanks to the Minister for Education, Training and Skills, there are many ways to receive further resources and support.   

Free in-person PD   

Join us at Vale Park Primary School on 25 March 2026 for a hands-on day of training, giving you practical skills and experience to grow your Kitchen Garden Program in your school or service.  

Thanks to funding from the South Australian Government, this is a free training day for South Australian educators from government schools and early childhood services. Places are limited. Secure yours by contacting Kate Beckwith kate.beckwith@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au 

Free virtual tour  

During this free virtual tour held on 20 March 2026, you’ll visit a South Australian rural primary school, Miltaburra Area School. You’ll hear about their Kitchen Garden Program, which has been thriving since 2014. The same dedicated duo has led the program from the very beginning! Join us to learn what it’s like to run a Kitchen Garden Program in a remote region, and gain insights you can bring back to your own school community. Register here.

Free information sessions

Our free info sessions are a great introduction to pleasurable food education and the benefits of a Kitchen Garden Program membership. Our next info session for early childhood services is on 24 November 2025, and for primary schools on 27 November 2025
