Members of our Healthy Kids Advisors initiative recently attended a Regional Planning Workshop in Bendigo hosted by Healthy Loddon Campaspe (HLC) — formerly Healthy Heart Victoria

Healthy Loddon Campaspe works within the Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Loddon, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shires and the City of Greater Bendigo. Two of these locations are supported by the Healthy Kids Advisors initiative

Our team connected with stakeholders, Mayors, CEOs and senior representatives from across the region to hear insights and learnings from guest speakers at the Department of Health, VicHealth, Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition and Deakin University. The group of 60 invitees participated in a co-design workshop that will inform the implementation of Stage 2 of the Healthy Loddon Campaspe initiative, wth new projects announced in early 2023.

The collaboration of our Healthy Kids Advisors with Healthy Loddon Campaspe is an exciting step in building shared actions to make positive changes in food environments from schools to sports facilities and community settings.

As commented in the address by Professor Steven Alender from the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition, the community-led and place-based models that both Healthy Kids Advisors and HLC are employing can be celebrated as leading examples in health transformation on the national and international stage.

Ciel Lindley (Healthy Kids Advisor — Central Goldfields) and Rebecca Fry (Healthy Kids Advisor — Bendigo) look forward to continued collaboration with HLC to implement place-based activations focused on healthy eating and developing strong community relationships to build knowledge about health and wellbeing priorities.
