In this workshop Bruce Ham will cover a broad range of pruning considerations including selecting fruit trees for the school and community environment; fertilising fruit trees; when, how and what to prune; fruit tree management and shape; what tools should be used and how to use them; how to maintain pruning tools and essential pest and disease management. You'll come away with everything you need to know to maintain a thriving, productive orchard in your school grounds.

Details

Bruce completed a Diploma of Horticulture in 2010, supervised by renowned horticultural writer and broadcaster Annette McFarlane. He has a technical background in mining engineering, geological and health sciences and applies many elements of these skills to the area of horticulture.  
 
Bruce has many fruit trees growing in his limited and naturally infertile backyard. Years of perseverance against the odds have provided him a wealth of information that he is generously willing to share with us today. Bruce is also secretary of  Brisbane Organic Growers Inc and regularly delivers talks and workshops on a wide variety of organic gardening issues.
