Vanessa and Mat of Melbourne City Rooftop Honey are beekeepers with a vision of bringing bees back to the city and the suburbs of Melbourne. Their aim is to be part of the greater worldwide effort to help save the honeybee from the various threats of disease and human habitation -and also to create some great honey.

While there are definitely some issues to consider in keeping hives in schools, there are also some Kitchen Garden Schools who already keep bees on site, and their students are learning a lot from this initiative. Vanessa and Mat will explain simple ways of keeping bees, and the considerations of doing so.

Please wear comfortable clothing for kitchen and garden workshops and closed shoes. Bring a hat/wet weather gear/sunscreen as appropriate, a camera, notebook and pen.
