
An Introduction to Using Inquiry-learning in the Kitchen and Garden investigates how kitchen and garden activities provide opportunities for Inquiry-learning and in turn strengthen student learning outcomes.
It is ideal for primary teachers at Kitchen Garden Program and Kitchen Garden Classroom member schools who are beginning to integrate kitchen and/or garden classes with the broader curriculum, but all staff are welcome.
The content assumes you have some proir working knowledge of Inquiry-based Learning and how to implement it.

Upon competion of this course you will:
- segment existing knowledge of Inquiry-based learning
- engage in discussions and thinking around how to incorporate Inquiry-based learning in your kitchen and/or garden classroom
- experiment with ways of approaching Inquiry-based learning using a variety of curriculum areas
- apply your thinking and learning to 'Your Project' and aim to test this with your students.
The course provides professional learning through promoting shared knowledge and practice within an online community setting. This includes a number of discussion threads aimed at encouraging you to contribute and share your ideas as well as comment on the work of others.

This is a self-paced online course using the CANVAS (Instructure) platform. The course materials are accessible for eight weeks, and there is an estimated contact time of five hours, equating to to 5.0 NON-ACCREDITED professional development hours.An Introduction to Using Inquiry Learning in the Kitchen and Garden adds value to the extensive face-to-face training all Program Schools and many members will have undertaken.
