Setting up Kitchen Garden Classes is an online course that provides an introduction to the key elements of implementing and delivering a kitchen garden program.

The course aims to support those starting out or planning kitchen and garden classes or sessions, and is suitable for those working in primary or secondary schools or in an early years setting.

Details

On completion of this course you will:

  • understand the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation's philosophy of pleasurable food education
  • have considered how you will establish and grow your kitchen or garden spaces
  • gain basic gardening and cooking skills and knowledge
  • understand how to go about planning, preparing, staffing and running a kitchen garden program
  • discuss your plans for food education sessions with a Kitchen Garden Foundation staff member.

Setting up Kitchen Garden Classes provides a wealth of professional learning opportunities including expert advice, peer-to-peer discussions and self-directed learning.

Additional Details

This is a self-paced online course using the CANVAS (Instructure) platform. The course materials are accessible for six weeks, and there is an estimated contact time of five hours, equating to to 5.0 NON-ACCREDITED professional development hours.

The course includes one webinar with a Kitchen Garden Foundation expert, for which three time slots will be available at a first-in-first served basis.


Please note, if you have already attended face-to-face training with the Foundation, this course repeats what you have learnt.
