Healthy Kids Advisor – Melton

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF) provides the inspiration, information, professional development, and support for educational institutions to deliver pleasurable food education, in conjunction with educators, partners and the wider community.

SAKGF’s Healthy Kids Advisors provide hands on support for healthy, delicious food and drink in places where children and families gather, including schools, sports clubs, outside school hours care and community/council operated facilities. Children and young people deserve access to healthy, fresh food and drink where they learn and play. You can be a part of this.

Healthy Kids Advisors is supported by the Victorian Government and the Australian Government and funded until June 30th 2024.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a motivated and people orientated Healthy Kids Advisor to help support the local healthy eating priorities across the City of Melton. Reporting to the Healthy Kids Advisors Program Manager, your role is to:

  • Support the successful implementation of Vic Kids Eat Well in alignment with local healthy eating initiatives and the Healthy Kids Advisors fresh new approach.
  • Actively engage the community in generating buzz and excitement around the healthy eating movement.
  • Support schools, sports clubs, outside school hours care (OSHC) and community and council owned facilities to achieve their healthy eating goals and enhance their food and drink environments for their children and young people.

You will join a friendly, supportive, and collaborative group of people who are dedicated to deliver pleasurable food education to young Australians.

  • Full Time (0.8FTE will be considered)

ABOUT YOU

We are a small not-for-profit that exists in a changeable environment and is open to opportunity and change. You will need to be willing to handle a rapidly adapting workplace, with a responsive and flexible attitude. We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant qualifications in social or health sciences, community development or engagement and/or strong local knowledge with experience in community engagement and a passion for health and wellbeing.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with confidence to present and facilitate workshops when appropriate.
  • Ability to build rapport and strong relationships in-person and over the phone with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • An innovative, enthusiastic, collaborative working style that can adapt to a changing environment.
  • Not-for-profit experience desirable.

The position may from time to time require intra-state and interstate travel. A driver’s license is required, own vehicle preferred. The applicant must be able to legally work in Australia, hold a valid Working With Children Check, and be up to date with their COVID vaccinations.
